Hey there! I’m Samantha, and I love people, chocolate, Trader Joe’s, good music, travel–you know, the stuff everybody can’t help but love. Writing and creativity has always been a part of my life, so I blog in hopes that it might inspire or encourage someone else.
Most of my days are spent chasing after our little guy (I’m talking about our toddler here, not a goldfish), but I also do a bit of freelance work as a writer and project manager. In the past, I’ve had my share of odd jobs and struggles with finding my identity from work, and wrote quite a bit about it as I learned plenty through that (sometimes painful) process.
This blog has been a great output for some of my creative thoughts and ideas, as well as my many questions and some random (sometimes weekly) updates. While there have been years and seasons it has gotten more of my attention with several posts a week, lately it’s been a bit more sporadic but hopefully still interesting and thought-provoking.
Us
In 2010, I got married to this handsome guy named Scott. He is a rockstar (my words, not his), and after a few years of convincing, we formed a band. While music is a big part of his life (and therefore mine), there’s so much more to him than that. Really, I could go on all day about his many talents and accomplishments but I’ll spare you the details for now because this isn’t LinkedIn or something. We have a garden of vegetables in the backyard, send the most ridiculous Christmas cards and have a deep affinity for Groundhog day.
In August 2012, we packed all of our things in a truck and moved halfway across the country with no idea what was in store. Every day, we’re still discovering where life may lead and are open to some wild and crazy possibilities. This blog started to share the stories of that adventurous move from Iowa to North Carolina.
Moving Peaces is about all of the bits and pieces that go into life as we move from one thing to the next. The fears, frustrations, joys and dreams. Hence, moving pieces. Beyond that, we are called to “live in peace.” (Rom. 12:18; 2 Cor. 13:11; 1 Thes. 5:13; Hebrews 12:14)
what a big move & adventure! 🙂 we are neighbors! i am in the upstate of the other Carolina!
Great move to NC! I studied there for a semester, liked that state! What are you doing there?
Thanks for visiting my blog. Thankful to have found you and I will be following along in your journey.
Barbie, I was so glad to have read your post that I even talked about it again in a post this week. Thank you!
Nice to meet you Samantha. I also made a big move 20 years ago across the pond. I really like your blog. Let’s stay in touch.
